"Apollo Reviving Coronis to Rescue the unborn Aesculapius " (see related A | B), 1607 Adam Elsheimer (1578-1610) Walker Gallery, Liverpool, England, UK
Repentant Apollo gathering healing herbs to revive pregnant Coronis whom he shot dead for marital infidelity. Apollo failed to resuscitate Coronis but was able to save the unborn who became Aesculapius. Coronis was cremated (note the funeral pyre in the background). The leafless branches over Crononis evoke her death.
