Swine, hog, pig, boar, bread, breed, brood, litter ... convey intertwined ideas. Notably, "soil" can also be traced to "sus" (Latin for pig as in swine). To be a "pig", to "hog" goods, and behave like a "swine" apply mostly to humans ... nourishing, nursing, and giving bread to a brood or litter has to do with nurturing and nature. It is curious that nobody knows where the term "boar" comes from.
