BACCHUS, CERES, AND AMOR

"Bacchus, Ceres, and Amor" (see details) (see related A | B | C), 1600 Hans Von Aachen (1552-1615) Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria

This image shows Bacchus embracing Ceres. Before the Christian era, Bacchus was seen as a benign and positive emblem. His emblematic representation stood for happiness, freedom from pain, and human spiritual liberty.

Ceres is a Goddess of agricultural abundance. Her attributes include wheat, fruits, and honey. She is also associated with fertility and motherhood.

You can also see Amor, representation of affection and love, standing beside Bacchus and Ceres with the basket full of fruits.
