A PURITANICAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE FALL OF MALES, NOT HUMANITY ("MAN")

"Fall of Man" (see details A | B) (see related A | B) Albrecht Altdorfer (1480-1538) National Gallery of Art, Washington D. C, USA

Fall of Man or Adam and Eve plus two companion paintings (triptych) - see one of Mars and another of Bacchus.
A puritanical view asserting that women are a source of sin and that males, in addition, may become "lost" through alcohol or war. Please also note that instead of Bacchus, the figure is more likely to represent Silenus, a drunkard - Bacchus was never represented as an alcoholic.
