"Vladimir I. Vernadsky", 1934 (1863-1945)

A polymath who framed modern concepts of Ecology and the notion of Biosphere as a thin living envelope (biota) of the Earth planet (Geosphere). Vernadsky also defined a third component of the evolution of our planet, the Noosphere (the human brain expressed as human behavior and creative and destructive consequences to the Biosphere).

Vernadsky is universally highly honored. In Ukraine he is honored as the founder of the Academy of Sciences.
