Allison Lapper has tetraphocomelia - she was born with severly reduced upper limbs and less severely malformed lower limbs. After being under institutional care since the age of 4 month she studied fine arts and graduated with "First Class Honours" from the University of Brighton. Her artistic career led her to participate in various British exhibitions and winning the MBE award. She has a son free from malformations.
Note that Thalidomide was removed from the market because if its teratogenic effects (malformation causing) - recently the drug is back on the market by demands of those suffering from chronic inflammatory and other serious generally late-onset disorders.
