CAPITAL SINS OFFENSES PECCABILITY PECOS PECCANCY

"La Charette de foi, allegorie (vanite du monde, peches capitaux)" (see details) (see related A), 1598 Atelier de Gillis Mostaert (1534-1598) Louvre Museum, Paris, France

PECOS PECADO PECADILLO point to SIN as well as to CATTLE, PECA in Spanish FRECKLE, among other implications linked to pecador or sinner in Spanish.

Instead to present formal roots and notions in SIN, this time I will focus on a narrowed perspective centered on cowboys who were not interested in PECADO as SIN but in PECOS, a site in west Texas and PECUNIARY or monetary matters. To this end they engaged with a PECULIAR penchant to stealing cows and horses and hiding in PECOS in Texas.

Perhaps the above has some roots in events 200 years ago, when southern restless cowboys invaded Mexican Tejas, renamed it TEXAS and proceeded to "steal it" from Mexico in a similar way as did Putin by invading Crimea.

The painting depicts DEADLY SINS and returning to Texas, such brings to mind the mortal sins committed by Texas Rangers who murdered Amerindian women and their infants which today would be branded as a HOLOCAUST.
