SILENUS

"Silene" (details from "Silene and infant Dionysus / Bacchus") (see related A), Roman copy found in the Cyclades, Greece (known as Praxiteles ) Louvre Museum, Paris, France

This probably relates to the work by Praxiteles of IV c. B.C. - It depicts an old satyr, or silene, or demon, who was a companion of Dionysus.
