"Relief with Sacrificial Scene", 130 - Plaque relief - Hadrian period - Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Tuscany, Italy

One interpretation is that the representation depicts an army's general or victimarri (about to initiate a campaign thus victims to be expected - the emblem here is the shield) offering the sacrifice of a bull about to have his skull crushed by an expert executioner ("Popa") - humans have an obsessive belief that spilling blood must please their "gods" - including perhaps circumcision.
