"Head of Demosthenes on a Cuirassed Bust - Antonine era - 2nd century AD ", c 38 BC Copy from an original by Polyeuctus Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Tuscany, Italy

This Roman copy from the Antonine era (2nd c. AD) set on a modern cuirassed bust portrays the head of Demosthenes from a Greek original in bronze by Polyeuctus from 384 BC. Quintilian considered him to be a "lex orandi" or a standard of oratory - Demosthenes opposed the expanding Macedonia including Alexander "the Great" - an Athenian rebellion failed, and Demosthenes was hunted for arrest and preferred to commit suicide than to become a prisoner.

From a medical perspective, is suicide ever a "normal" choice?
