"Cupid wings being plucked and his arch broken" (details from "Trionfi della Pudicizia or Triumph of Modesty - a second of four panels ") (see related A), 1480 Jacopo di Arcangelo (known as Jacopo del Sellaio) (1442 - 1493) Bandini Museum, Fiesole (Metropolitan Florence) , Toscany, Italy
Prudery may be linked to Pudor, but certainly it is an enemy of Cupidity, Eroticism, and even of Amor or Love. It is false to link Prudery with Moralism - Puritans are among the worse sinners but ... I love more the fact that Prudes remind us of a "wet cat" or Mojigato, the Spanish term for "Prude".
