PSYCHE

"Psyche" (see related A | B | C | D | E | F | G), 1842 Wolf von Hoyer (1806-1873) Neue Pinakothek, Munich, Bavaria, Germany

Tender like a butterfly, the Psyche seeks to know, but the light of her lamp is week - she illuminated Eros who for the most part was invisible - perhaps the reason for eroticism to be so fragile - but the love of Eros for Psyche became firm, as his love replaced his lust, and his name shifted from Cupid to Eros.

The human psyche, the ancients properly underscored, is very fragile. Self-confidence, self-respect, hope, love, hate, and other "feelings" propel humans forward or in extremities toward suicide.
