The iris flower implies suffering, as do the two flanking Saints - Giobbe (Job) and Gottardo (Gotthard) - the first is represented with a skin disorder (see detail), and the other is emblematic of pain associated with "the Gout" or Gota in Spanish (see comments in companion web-site "Clinical Eye Openers").
