Both individuals just presented share similar signs that represent a signal virtually diagnostic of achondroplasia. A consistent combination of signs represents a syndrome. Diagnosis represents a synthesis of the above expanded by a characteristic combination of symptoms, causes, prognosis and natural history (evolution of the disorder). All of the above is the subject of nosology (knowledge of "disease").
