The prophecy by an Oracle was that Atalanta should not marry. Thereafter, she refused Suitors unless they could run faster then she did. Hippomenes resorted to a trick. While running he would drop golden apples, and as Atalanta gathered them he won her hand. There are several versions of this love story, but each is too long to present here.
