Childhood Perceptions - Radiophobia

... and fire fell from the sky ... and the waters turned bitter (Chornobyl)

Chornobyl (in Ukrainian) - Chernobyl (in Russian), what’s the difference?

The ongoing Russian colonization and russification of its neighbors heavily relies on the promotion of the Russian language and the obliteration of Ukrainian among other “dialects”. The Soviets obliterated the memory of the radiation destroyed ancient Ukrainian city on the river Prypyat called Chornobyl. They changed the name of the site of the nuclear explosion from Vladimir Lenin to Chernobyl. In addition, they insured that it was spelled the Russian way although the site is in Ukraine. Such propaganda actions of cultural Russian imperialism are upheld by the ignorance and indifference of the international community.
