This warrior called Galatian by the Greeks (characteristic long curly hair) is a representation of the victory of king Attale of Pergamon (241-197 B.C.) against an invasion by the Gauls. Similar representations stand in the Acropolis of Athens along with representations of Amazons being defeated by the Greeks.
